Positive and negative effects of social media?
Positive Example 1
The article by the BBC, written in 2013 (no writer featured) wrote about the positives of social media. In the article, it says that social media allows you to express yourself, and show people who you are. Social media allows users to be their best selves and let people see what they want people to see about them. You can also show other people what you like and what you watch, which lets people know what you're in to. The article also talks about how it's easier to communicate with friends and family. This article is quite dated now but it's not too old. It's also made by the BBC, a big well-funded company, which I feel I can trust. I've seen other articles from the BBC with interviews and other credible resources however there's no sign that this happened for this article. No author credited.

Negative Example 1
The article by the BBC also talks about the negatives. Written in 2013, no author credited. They talk about cyberbullying. People sometimes forget that it happens but it's a lot easier to bully people online when you're hidden behind a profile picture. Both bullies find it easier to bully people because they can't see their face so to them they're just typing a sentence. The person receiving the message might not be able to tell who it is, and might never find out. You can say anything online, and potentially never be found out about it.

Positive Example 2
The article was written by teen shield talk about the positives of social media. In the article, they talk about how social media can help with education. Using videos' other people upload to sites like Facebook and youtube, people can learn a lot for free from other people. This also allows the creator of the video to make a profit. It can also create social encounters, either by spreading the video to friends or by talking about the video with friends. The article is made by a smaller website/company than say the BBC, however, it's still a well-regarded website, devoted to writing articles about subjects like this. The article was made in 2016, which relatively new, so it's a rough current look at the topic. The article was written by Kelly Austin

Negative Example 2
In this article, written by Anya Zhukova, in 2018 talks about the negative effects of social media. The article was written early on in this year (2018), which means it's very new and has a current perspective on the situation. In the article, it talks about something called FOMO (Fear of missing out). It's a cause of anxiety where missing out on something positive will make you feel like you missed out, and get upset and anxious about it. Because so much happens on social media sites and the internet nowadays there's no way to keep up with everything, however people, of course, want to otherwise they get left behind in conversations or don't understand what people are talking about sometimes. The article seems well written and well thought out. And the author of the article has had many online and in-person experiences with people in the same situations as what she talks about.

He says it's effortless and you can talk to almost anyone anywhere on the plane just like that. The article was written this year (2018), which means as of this point, it's up to date and quite relevant. I think it's a bit of an informal and opinionated look at the subject, but it seems well researched and it's similar to what other articles have said about the topic.

Negative Example 3
In this article, the writer Bilal Ahmad talks about the disadvantages and advantages of social networks. The article was written in 2016 so the article has quite a recent view on the topic. In the article, one of the topics Bilal talks about is how social media can open up users to being hacked. He talks about how the fact you're entering your details like your email, passwords and even credit card details. Hackers can break into your account and find this information, or find your pictures and anything else uploaded to your account. The site seems well made and the research put into it seems correct. It's similar to what other articles are saying and he puts a lot of detail into it.
